All our devils play their own unique role in the nation-wide Captive Breeding Program (CBP). This is also referred to as the ‘Insurance Population’ which is managed by the Zoological and Aquariums Association (ZAA) in collaboration with Tasmanian Governments ‘Save the Tasmanian Devil Program (STTDP). Currently and historically Trowunna is the most successful place for the breeding of Tasmanian Devils, which is vital to ensure the survival and genetic diversity held within Australian Institutions and the future of the species
