Devil Dominance
Tug-o-war with a Tasmanian Devil
Step into Trowunna Wildlife Sanctuary and feel the Tasmanian bush come alive around you. You'll be invited into the hush of a wild den where keepers guide you to meet one of our resident Tasmanian devils and hand-feed these wild-hearted creatures. With jaws that open a startling 80 degrees and a bite force of 3000 psi, their power surges in a rush you'll feel all the way to your fingertips.

Hidden in Plain Sight
Hand feed a Tawny Frogmouth
As you move beneath the cool shade of the trees at Trowunna Wildlife Sanctuary, you’ll feel the soft stillness of the Tawny Frogmouths around you, birds so perfectly camouflaged they seem carved from the branches themselves. In this quiet, immersive space, you’ll meet the enchanting Tawny Frogmouths up close and even hand feed these beautiful birds.
Hailing from mainland Australia and Tasmania, Tawny Frogmouths often get mistaken for owls—but they’re actually close kin to the enchanting nightjars. With the help of our keepers, you’ll discover how these clever birds disappear into bark and shadow and learn the surprising ways they help support the balance of our changing natural world.
