Trowunna's daily tours have been educating the public for over 25 years.
With about 50% of Australia's land mammals being marsupial they are an important part of any natural history class.
A tour can be tailored for your class. Our marsupial talk can be useful to explain the finer details of many subjects and complement what students are currently studying .
Usually a school group will be shown koalas, wombats and Tasmanian devils. During the talk subjects like adaptation, feeding, self-defence, reproduction, communication and classifications can be explained.

Students can learn about the fascinating world of reptiles by looking at the local reptiles in the sanctuary. This class can be taken at any time of the year but the warmer months are better because it can be combined with a mini field trip in the sanctuary looking under rocks and logs where lizards live, also looking at what lizards eat (bugs!). The lesson also includes snake safety by a professional herpetologist. In spring time this tour ends with a look at snake habitat and a listen to some of the different frog species. Students will be able to touch a blue tongue lizard on this tour.
